“Dedicated and Loyal Coaches”
I drive 75 minutes each way to NPI 3X per week SPECIFICALLY so my twin 13 year olds can train under Professor Leandro Hernandez. My kids have been training 7 years. They started with Leandro & after trying several schools. We always end up back with Leandro. As BJJ/MMA becomes more popular, there are literally schools on every corner. Some good. Some not so good. Some hobby shops (nothing wrong with them) & some who produce high level champions. Professor Leandro received his black belt about a decade ago from Ricardo Almeida (Renzo Gracie’s 1st American black belt & a legend in the UFC, etc.). You will not find a better lineage than what Leandro had. Some folks do not like his style it seems. Yeah, Leandro is going to make you work. Hard! He will not accept failure & he insists that every technique is executed perfectly. Yes, he will make you drill something ten or a hundred times until you get it right. Sloppy technique is not allowed. He will make you practice basic technique until it’s second nature to you. He is also one of the most dedicated & loyal teachers there are. Even when my kids were at other schools, if I needed a coach for a tournament? He would make the time to help my kids out. My kids are where they are today primarily due to the way Leandro teaches & what he has taught them. If doing it correctly matters to you? There is nobody we have seen in 7 years better than Leandro. I wish my kids teachers in middle school cared about their students as much as this guy does. Easily one of the best. This is why a lot of professional MMA guys have him in their camps & ringside. He has worked with UFC legends, Bellator & PFL champs & ADCC medalists. To be the best? You need to be taught by the best. The facility itself is easily in the Top 3 if not the absolute best in the Northeast. It’s large, clean, has a full gym on one side and every kind of mat/ring/training area you could want. They have a professional boxer teaching the boxing classes. Heck, where else can you go and have a fighting legend like Eddie Alvarez teach your classes? For real. I am happy to endorse this place fully & happy to answer any and all questions anyone has (DM me). But as far as BJJ goes (what my kids primarily train in)? I am grateful that Professor Leandro is back teaching in an academy & we will make the drive to NPI to learn under him 100%! 🤜🏻🤛🏻
